Sheffield Tutor Company, a part of the MME group, has been selected by the DfE as an approved tuition provider for the National Tutoring Programme, which is only accessible to schools. Enrollment of students cannot be done by parents; rather, it must be carried out by their subject teachers. NTP tutoring is currently aimed at GCSE students in maths, English, and science, but it may be broadened in the coming weeks and months. If you’re a parent who wants your child to get extra support funded by their school, please contact the school  and inquire about MME’s tutoring services.

The questions below cover some of the things that parents, students and teachers ask about the National Tutoring Programme.

What is the National Tutoring Programme?

The NTP was created by the government with the objective of providing financial aid to schools in order to enhance learning outcomes through tuition. Although it was initially introduced to assist children in catching up after the pandemic, its implementation has been extended due to the recognition of the remarkable benefits of tuition.

How does the NTP funding work?

There is a set amount of £162 allocated per student eligible for Pupil Premium, which can be used for any student as part of the NTP. These funds are sent to schools in September, December and April. Schools are eligible to receive reimbursement for 60% of the tuition expenses incurred, with a cap of £18 per hour per student.

Is the NTP tuition online or in person and is it in groups?

A range of options are available for learning, ranging from individual in-person teaching to virtual group classes. Typically, one-on-one in-person instruction will cost considerably more than participating in group sessions online.

How does the dfe national tutoring programme make a difference?

Students who have benefited from the scheme have received significantly improved outcomes after using tuition.
