Here at Sheffield Tutor Company, we are committed to helping all of our students with their educational needs. A common question we are always asked by our learners is how to get a maths GCSE quickly. Unfortunately this isn’t as easy as many think due to how often the GCSE exams are held. Despite this, there are GCSE alternatives that offer much more flexibility and the same reward.

The GCSE maths exams can only be sat in November and May/June and are split into 3 exams which are always paper based and sat in a registered centre. This limits learners as they will have to make travel arrangements on 3 separate occasions to sit the exams. For this reason many students often seek a GCSE alternative which can be sat at whatever location, time and date suits the learner. The main alternative is a functional skills maths level 2 exam which is Ofqual regulated meaning it is widely accepted by employers and universities. Actual GCSE exams can take a good amount of weeks to receive results unlike online exams which are usually back within a number of days making it the fastest way to get GCSE maths. Other GCSE alternatives are those like equivalency tests which are more teacher training specific and are less accepted as the GCSE and functional skills level 2.

Ultimately how to get maths GCSE quickly depends on the time of the year and can change depending how quickly you need the results. The actual GCSE is not usually the answer for most as results take months to come back meaning it is not often recommended unless they need the GCSE and will not accept an alliterative. For this reason many lean towards the alternative route as it is more flexible for them and has the same benefit. Please feel free to get in touch today if you have any questions or need any support.
