There are external controlled assessments that are like mock exams, which the results will be sent as evidence to your college or school to help with your teacher’s assessed grade. There are a series of assessments that external candidates can take to acquire a GCSE grade this summer. External candidates are people who are outside mainstream education. The series of assessments have been put in place by MME and GCSE examiners. Alternatives to GCSE exams and teacher assessed grades

There are many different GCSE alternative qualifications which are accepted by Universities and employers. The phrase ‘Give your GCSE or GCSE equivalent qualifications‘ is often used by these establishments when you are applying. GCSE equivalent qualifications are also commonly called  functional skills which at level 2 is equal to a GCSE grade C/level 4. Nurses and Trainee Teachers

Those who are looking at courses such as teacher training or nursing, should look at GCSE equivalency tests as a qualification. This qualification is common amongst trainee teachers and nurses and is accepted by a large number of Universities and employers, however not all do accept this qualification so you will need to check with them before booking. The tests are preferred compared to functional skills with SCITT and training providers.
